About
There are 3 options for this program:
- Residential Electrician (working in homes),
- Commercial Electrician (working in businesses),
- Small Industrial Electrician (working in factories/manufacturing plants).
These programs are available at the Sidney Collier Site on Louisa St, the Jefferson Site in Metairie, OR the River City Site in Westwego.
The Residential Electrician Program is designed to prepare students for residential entry-level electrician positions. Building and equipping electrical power-generating homes that use electrical energy for heating, lighting, and cooling are other operations among the career opportunities for which students will prepare. Residential electricians are likely the type of electricians who we are all most familiar with. Ultimately, domestic electricians are responsible for installing and repairing any and all electrical wiring in a residential setting. From the breaker unit to the wire running across the walls in the attic, domestic electricians are the go-to pros for any household electrical work.
The Commercial Electrician Program is designed to prepare students for commercial entry-level electrician positions. Building and equipping electrical power generating plants, and installing and servicing electrical systems for stores, homes, and office buildings that use electrical energy for heating, lighting, and cooling are other operations among the career opportunities for which students will prepare. Commercial buildings require a different type of electrical work, mainly based on the fact that a lot more electricity is needed in comparison to a residential building. Our Commercial Electrician program focuses on commercial wiring, motors, transformers, generators, raceways, and National Electric Code (NEC) standards.
The Industrial Electrician Program is designed to prepare students for small industrial entry-level electrician positions. Building and equipping electrical power generating plants, and installing and servicing electrical systems for factories, workshops, or any other industrial setting that uses electrical energy for heating, lighting, and cooling are other operations among the career opportunities for which students will prepare. Our small industrial program focuses on National Electric Code (NEC) standards, industrial wiring, solid-state theory, digital logic functions, and motor controls. Students will apply knowledge gained in theory/lecture classes to hands-on projects in the lab.
