Is this a career path I'll enjoy?
The Cybersecurity field is growing rapidly as several historical and contemporary global events have been influenced by the exploitation of information technology. Firms across the country are desperate for new staff that can assist in securing networks and databases. Entry-level positions in Louisiana pay approximately $30/hr+.
What skills and credentials will I gain?
In this program, students will examine the fundamentals of managing risks and keeping an organization safe from security threats. Upon completion, students will walk away with:
- Digital badge and/or certificate of completion from UNO Division of Professional and Continuing Education
- Portfolio of work (critical for career transitions without a field-specific, 4-year degree)
Immediately upon successful completion of an immersion program, competitive Innovation Academy students will be eligible to apply for our apprenticeship program. Students will be placed with an employer partner and paid an entry-level wage as an apprentice for this career. Apprentices will be "on-the-job training" for approximately 8 to 15 weeks following completion of their immersion program. Apprentices begin at a wage schedule of $20+ per hour.
Apprentices for these roles can earn more than $20 per hour, plus benefits.
Admissions
Applicants must be 18 or older and have completed their high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, applicants must have access to a computer.
